TRANSFER OF THE CIUDAD DE ZAMBOANGA B.R.E.A.S.T. INSTALLATION ART TO PASEO DEL MAR

Repost from In Pinay's Ciudad
May 30, 2014

I would like to share this wonderful "BAYANIHAN" story during the transfer of the CMZ Bra to Raise Awareness Campaign Project highlight, the CIUDAD DE ZAMBOANGA B.R.E.A.S.T. INSTALLATION ART!

B.R.E.A.S.T. means
Bra to Raise Early Awareness for Screening and Treatment

This Ciudad de Zamboanga B.R.E.A.S.T. Installation Art is  created by the Sulu-born, international artist Rameer Tawasil with artist friends, CMZ staff, trainees and affiliates and partners in the community jointly working with him to finish this innovative advocacy artwork.

The gigantic B.R.A. Art has these dimensions:
Total height including stage: 4.27 m or 14 feet.
Height of stage: 1.22 m or 4 feet
Width: 4.88 m or 16 feet
Depth: 2.44 m or 8 feet

As of May 14, 2014, there is a total of 1580 bras making up this B.R.E.A.S.T. Installation Art with this breakdown:
= = = 505 decorated bras for the giant bra cups and straps. (right cup =181; left cup = 193; center = 14; right strap = 47; left strap = 70)
= = = 202 colored bras for the breast-shaped backdrop.
= = = 50 black bras lining outline of the breast-shaped backdrop.
= = = 441 black bras for the whole stage floor.
= = = 382 black bras for the three sides of the stage. (right side = 85; front side = 205; left side = 92)

We would like to thank Mayor Maria Isabel "Beng" Climaco-Salazar for allowing the transfer of the Ciudad De Zamboanga B.R.E.A.S.T. Installation Art through City Administrator, Antonio G. Orendain, Jr.!
Thanks also to Mr. Joselito "Joey" Wee, OIC-Paseo Del Mar for being so accommodating and supportive during and after the transfer!

Considering this massive size, it is indeed difficult to move the whole B.R.A. Art over to Paseo Del Mar and this entailed the Bayanihan Spirit to make this possible.

Bayanihan means:
Bayanihan (pronounced as bah - yah - nee - han) is a Filipino term taken from the word bayan, referring to a nation, town or community. The whole term bayanihan refers to a spirit of communal unity or effort to achieve a particular objective.

So I would like to share these pictures to demonstrate this!
Rameer Tawasil, primary artist and CMZ HR manager, Ma'am Juvee preparing the site!

Thank you to Maintenance/Engineering Section , ASEGCO Janitorial personnel , ANTHONY Security Agency Personnel,  Pharmacy Department Staff [Edsel, Rodel], Radiology Department, [Regine, Cristina, Radtech Interns] and the CMZ Tricycle Drivers Association and Richard
for helping in the transfer of the B.R.A. Art!

So here is the Team that made this happen.
Thanks especially for CMZ Administrative Officer, Ms. Ruby Ann Puzon and CMZ HR Manager, Ms. Juvee Calica for coordinating the transfer to Paseo Del Mar with City Officials and with the movers who made this possible with the Bayanihan Spirit.
Thanks again and we do hope that with the transfer of this innovative and creative art advocacy project, Ciudad De Zamboanga B.R.E.A.S.T. Installation Art to the main park of Zamboanga City, PASEO DEL MAR, we would be able to gain a wider reach for our B.R.A. advocacy campaign to the community and visitors to:

CMZ MAGNETOM ESSENZA, 1.5 TESLA MRI @ OCTOBER 2012

Repost from In Pinay's Ciudad

CMZ AVP 8.

AVP done by Angel Benigno, CMZ Management Information System

Ciudad Medical Zamboanga acquires the Siemens Magnetom Essenza 1.5 Tesla MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), which is a lightweight 1.5 MRI Tesla system but belongs to the superconductor MR family.

This is the first 1.5 Tesla MRI (superconductor type)  in the whole Mindanao which started its operations last October 2012. Other MRIs in Mindanao are permanent magnets and usually have field strengths of less than 0.5 Tesla.

CMZ AVP 9.

Ciudad Medical Zamboanga is the first hospital in Western Mindanao to acquire a digital mammography system with the installation of the Siemens Mammomat Inspiration last October 2012.

The acquisition of the Digital Mammography system augments the services of the Ciudad Medical Zamboanga Breast Wellness Center.

I would like to share these Breast Cancer articles in relation to Mammography.

There continues to be discussions whether mammography screening should start at 40 or 50 years old. The U.S. advocates Mammography starting at 40 years old while the U.K. and Canada starts at 50 years old.

High risk patients for Breast Cancer usually starts earlier, although, generally I would not suggest mammography for those younger than 40 years old since dense breasts is one of the main limitations of Mammography .

False Negative result from Mammography

False Positive result from Mammography

It is best to talk to your physician about the advantages and limitations of Mammography to get the most out of the examination!

More B.R.A. Art from the CMZ B.R.A. A.R.T. Workshop

Repost from In Pinay's Ciudad
April 22, 2014

For those who have followed my blog, you must have a B.R.A. overdose by now. But, I guess that is advocacy is all about, right?!

Advocacy is the act or process of supporting a cause or proposal.*

Health advocacy supports and promotes patient's health care rights as well as enhance community health and policy initiatives that focus on the availability, safety and quality of care.**

The CMZ B.R.A. (Bra to Raise Awareness) Campaign Project advocates for Breast Wellness and Breast Cancer Awareness using old and used brassieres and using ART as the medium.

We had two CMZ B.R.A. A.R.T. (Act Right Together) workshops where CMZ staff, then, with partners in the community joined hands to create fabulous bra art from old and used bras. Along the way, many were inspired to continue to create embellished bras.

We had the "Borloloy Buffet" which is another term for "Blings Buffet"available for participants to choose their art materials then come up with their concepts.

The products of the CMZ B.R.A. A.R.T. workshop are used for the Ciudad De Zamboanga B.R.E.A.S.T. (Bra to Raise Early Awareness for Screening and Technology) Installation Art, but because of very innovative creations, we also have the CMZ B.R.A. Art Exhibit for the chosen embellished bras.

In this post, I will share with you many of the individual decorated bras in several collages using InstaMag. Some of these bras may be viewed with the CMZ B.R.A. Art Exhibit and the others are now part of the  B.R.E.A.S.T. Installation Art.

We have Decorated Bras from our CMZ Staff and Nurse Trainees. We have about 200 bra art from the Hemodialysis Unit; about 50 decorated bras from Medical Records / Rehab Unit group; about 28 from Radiology and about 15 from the OR/DR/NICU group.

We have partners in the community especially, from the Breast Cancer Survivor group (Mindanao Breast Cancer Support and Empowerment Association); our partners in health = Department of Health Region IX, Oficina De Salud, PhilHealth; Western Mindanao Command; our school partners = Ateneo De Zamboanga University, Universidad De Zamboanga, Brent Hospital and Colleges and Nuevo Zamboanga Colleges Inc.; our friends from the banking industry = PNB and Metrobank.

And of course, we have the support of our friends from other parts of the Philippines: Elsie Cubero Lim from the Cebu City Budget Office (pink floral bra); Dr. Joy Santos-De Leon and family from Bocaue, Bulacan (silver bra with teddy bear) and Prescy Valenzuela Yulo of Skin Rejuve with six Manila branches.

Most of all, my friends from Brunei/Singapore also sent bra art made by Molly Yap's daughter, Elene who is 14 years old!

Here is more from our CMZ staff/trainees and from partners in the community...

So, if you are from the Zamboanga City area, please schedule your FREE LECTURES on Breast Wellness and Breast Cancer Awareness at the Ciudad Medical Zamboanga Breast Wellness Center at 992-7330 local 1278!
Let the Awareness start with us!

Ciudad De Zamboanga B.R.E.A.S.T. Installation Art: UP CLOSE!

Repost from In Pinay's Ciudad
April 12, 2014

The City of Zamboanga is so proud to present the Ciudad De Zamboanga B.R.E.A.S.T. Installation Art, which was finally unveiled last March 21, 2014.*

B.R.E.A.S.T. means Bra to Raise Early Awareness for Screening and Treatment.

The Ciudad De Zamboanga B.R.E.A.S.T. Installation Art is the creation of Sulu-born International Artist, Rameer Tawasil together with Zamboanga artists, Ciudad Medical Zamboanga staff and partners in the community.

There is a total of 1268 bras making up this B.R.E.A.S.T. Installation Art with this breakdown:
= = = 508 decorated bras for the giant bra cups and straps.
 = = = 164 colored bras for the breast-shaped backdrop.
= = = 308 black bras for the whole stage floor.
= = = 288 black bras for the three sides of the stage.
Rameer Tawasil together with the GIANT BRA made up of colorful, decorated bras!!!

Last February 7 and March 12, 2014 were CMZ B.R.A. (Bra to Raise Awareness) Art Workshops with our staff as well as friends partners  in the Zamboanga City community who shared in the making of the wonderfully decorated bras! **

There were about 550 bras as a result of the two workshops and more were done after the workshop! There were contributions of Art bras from local artists (with Rameer Tawasil) and those which were mailed in from other places in the Philippines and with international participation, too!***

Thus, we can proudly call this an ART WORK of the ZAMBOANGA COMMUNITY deserving to be dubbed CIUDAD DE ZAMBOANGA B.R.E.A.S.T. INSTALLATION ART!

Chosen embellished bra art are now on display in Lantaka Hotel and soon in other parts of Zamboanga City while most of the art bras are part of this innovative public installation art!****

Here are close-up shots of this Advocacy Art: Can you identify which decorated bras were made by you?
with sequins, beads, ribbons and tinsel... and I see the bra I made!
painted bras done by the Zamboanga artists...
more ribbons, sequins, flowers and painted ones...
and the green one comes from CMZ Dietary Department!
I see a fish (this must be Jam's bra from Medical Records)...some tubes, ribbons and beads!
... and the violet one comes from West MinCom!
I see a sequined vinta and curacha (I know Charisse of Radiology made this!)...
and the tubings must be from Hemodialysis!

more painted and sequined bras!
the big black bra with pink flowers comes from Ward G's Decorated Bra Box!
with 15 decorated bras for the center strap
Here are pictures from Rameer Tawasil:
at the sides of the BRA:
38 decorated bras on the right strap and 50 decorated bras in the left strap
center part of the bra (midstrap) has 15 decorated bras
the back portion of the Ciudad De Zamboanga B.R.E.A.S.T. Installation Art with 164 colored bras.
this was changed to all  black bras for the sides of the stage:
76 black bras on the right; 144 bras in the center; 68 bras on the left side.
right bra cup has 212 decorated bras
the left bra cup has 193 decorated bras!

As we appreciate this Ciudad De Zamboanga B.R.E.A.S.T. Installation Art, let also think of the fertile minds, creative hearts and skilled hands of our partners in Zamboanga City and our friends from other parts of the Philippines and abroad, who gave their time, talent and treasure for the noble advocacy of BREAST WELLNESS and BREAST CANCER AWARENESS through ART!
